Kara Orford

Increasing cultural engagement for young people has been the driving force of Kara’s career. In her current role as Associate Director of Programme Delivery for The Reader, Kara is responsible for the charity's work with Children and Young People, working in partnership with over 75 organisations over 8 regions and supporting some of the most vulnerable families in the North West. Kara is particularly passionate about developing projects to support care experienced children.

Formerly, she worked as a strategic manager within public libraries for many years and across numerous Local Authorities, with some international experience. Her motivation has always been to empower children and young people and to improve confidence in engaging with cultural services.
