Curious Minds is committed to ensuring that all people—regardless of disability, neurodivergence, or access needs—can engage with our spaces, services, programmes, and communications.
1. Our Commitment
This policy outlines our approach to accessibility and inclusion, in line with our values and legal obligations under the Equality Act 2010.
We aim to:
- Create welcoming, inclusive environments for all visitors, staff, partners, and participants.
- Identify and remove barriers, wherever possible, to access in our physical and digital spaces.
- Continuously improve the accessibility of our services, content, and communications.
- Actively listen to and learn from disabled people and those with lived experience.
- Champion a culture of accessibility within Curious Minds and with the partners and individuals we work with.
2. Physical Accessibility
We will:
- Ensure our venues and event locations are physically accessible wherever possible.
- Clearly communicate access arrangements in advance.
- Provide alternative arrangements when full physical access cannot be guaranteed.
3. Digital Accessibility
We will:
- Design and maintain our website and digital communications to meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
- Offer alternative formats of key documents and content on request (e.g. large print, audio, Easy Read).
- Ensure video content includes captions and, where possible, transcripts or audio descriptions.
4. Programme and Participation
We will:
- Make reasonable adjustments to ensure full participation in our programmes and activities.
- Encourage inclusive practice in all programme design, delivery and evaluation.
- Provide clear access information and contact points for support or adjustments.
5. Employment and Recruitment
We will:
- Ensure that our recruitment practices are inclusive and accessible.
- Make reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process and in the workplace.
- Promote flexible working and inclusive practices that support staff wellbeing.
6. Monitoring and Review
We will:
- Regularly review this policy and our accessibility practices.
- Gather feedback from users and stakeholders to inform continuous improvement.
- Report annually on our progress and identify areas for development.
