Media Profile | Derri Burdon, CEO

About Derri

Derri is our Chief Executive Officer, passionately campaigning for creativity and culture to be at the heart of school curricula and careers services for children and young people. She also brings her energy and expertise to national and local leadership as Co-Chair of the Cultural Learning Alliance, Chair of Wigan’s Cultural Partnership Board, and is a dedicated secondary school governor.

By way of wider background, Derri has acquired a wealth of experience in education and culture over 25 years. She originally trained as a teacher and taught English in FE colleges before working for Bolton Council for more than ten years.

As Head of Enrichment for Learning, she was responsible for leading several high-profile education initiatives including: Find Your Talent, Inspiring Communities and Bolton’s UFA and Children’s University partnerships.

Derri is passionate about improving outcomes for all children, especially the most disadvantaged and vulnerable. She is driven by the passionate belief that rather than attempting to ‘close the gap’, we should be filling it with enriching and inspirational cultural and collective learning experiences that the most fortunate families take for granted.
